Wildwood Tubaphone "Tree of Life" 11" Open Back Banjo
Wildwood Banjos were made by Mark Platin from 1973-2018.
Here is a small excerpt from Mark after he retired:
Wildwood Banjos began in the summer of 1973 in Arcata, Ca. as a personal experiment, and through the years developed a following of music store dealers and players appreciating the efforts of a small banjo company building quality instruments with a distinctive flare for figured woods, tasteful inlays, unique design, and above all, a true concern for authentic sound and play ability. There are well over 6000 Wildwood banjos in the world doing their part for the rich history of old-time and bluegrass. I’m proud to think that I have made a contribution to that effort.
Wildwood rims are completely different from conventional rims. Where as conventional rims are “wrapped laminates”, these rims are machined from solid rock maple blocks. The effect is obvious as soon as you play one. The volume, the clarity, the character of the sound are all due to the solid nature of these rims. Each rim is machined to exacting specifications, bound and purfled to match the neck and stained to match the color of the neck.
This particular instrument features a great sounding Tubaphone tone ring and just beautiful "tree of life inlay" on the neck. This all maple instrument is in amazing condition . . . .and due to the fact that Wildwood Banjos have no serial number, we can't say what year it was made.
Comes with TKL hard case and pickup.
