The first of these we have ever had in the store, this is a circa 1931 Regal "No. 4 Custom Built" model. X braced by Regal in its Chicago factory, this line of Regal's offerings was meant to be competitive with Martins of the period and there are many similarities both in construction and tonally.

The guitar is the "Concert" sized version of Regal's "Custom Built" models. Spruce top with rosewood back/sides. 12 fret slotted peghead. Mahogany neck has a deep "C" profile and a 24.5" scale.  Tuners appear to be original and function well.  Replacement ebony bridge/bone saddle.  Bone 1-7/8th's nut appears to be original, and it has had a recent neck reset.  Paper oval Regal label is in tact and very well preserved.  Pearl Regal script on rosewood headstock veneer.  Oval metal Regal medallion on back of headstock.

.  Back/sides are in very good condition with no cracks. Bridgeplate appears to be a rosewood replacement.  This guitar has the usual scuffs, dings, scratches, and finish wear for a nearly 100 year old guitar but is structurally solid and plays very well.  Non-original used hardshell case.

Amazing instrument!
