2009 Lyle Reedy 3/4 length fiddle
This 2009 Lyle Reedy fiddle boasts the workmanship of not just one, but two luminaries in the local fiddle community who are no longer with us.
Originally built for a long time Asheville musician, this 2009 Lyle Reedy is a 3/4 scale length instrument yet with viola depth and width, giving it smaller scale playability with the tone and volume of a full size violin.
Lyle Reedy was a sixth generation farmer from Transylvania county, NC who played and handcrafted violins for almost thirty years.
Years later, the original owner had the instrument re-voiced by David Rhodes of Fairview, NC, thinning the top to give it even more volume and responsiveness.
This lovely violin is loud, open, and sweet, with a Sitka spruce top and a nicely flamed one-piece maple back. Ebony fingerboard and pegs, Wittner tailpiece with Kaplan Vivo strings.
Featherweight-style case included.
