One of the finest fingerstyle guitars ever to grace the walls of Acoustic Corner, the Schoenberg Soloist is a guitar model that combines modern and vintage features. These guitars were built by world class luthiers, primarily Dana Bourgeois, T.J.Thompson, and later Bruce Sexauer, in the Martin factory with key components constructed and voiced by the aforementioned luthiers.

Produced by Martin from 1987 through 1994,  the name, "Soloist", hearkened back some 60 years to the last well-documented instance when Martin had made guitars under another name- the Olcott-Bickford Artist model, manufactured for the renowned player and teacher Vadah Olcott-Bickford (1885-1980) in the 1920's.  These Artist guitars were often called "Soloists".

This particular model, serial number 526324, was made under the tenure of T.J. Thompson.

While following roughly the same arrangement with Martin as his predecessor, Dana Bourgeois, Thompson spent considerably more time preparing the 'kits' in his workshop before sending them to Martin for final assembly.  He began performing additional operations 'in-house' (rather than having Martin do them in Nazareth), such as neck carving, side bending, gluing of braces to tops, and brace carving.  In addition, Thompson began using traditional 'hide' glue, as Martin had done in the 1920's.

This amazing and historical guitar, features some absolutely amazing Adirondack spruce and unbelievable Brazilian rosewood. One of the most touch sensitive guitars ever in the store, this instrument also rivals any we have played in clarity and balance. Setup is absolutely perfect, resulting in an instrument that is effortless to play.

Condition is near mint, with only very minor play wear.

Original hard case included.
