1981 Gurian S3M
Though we have heard of these instruments, this is the first one to grace the sales floor in our stores twenty-five year history. Brought in by its original owner, we can see why its incredibly balanced tone and comfortable body shape appealed to fingerstyle players.
Serial number D2015 is in fantastic shape with very minimal fret and play wear. The only evidence of a repair is an obvious bridge reglue done many years ago.
Someone with small hands will love the shallow nut and slim neck profile of this instrument.
Original case included.
About Gurian Guitars
Gurian Guitars was a manufacturer of high quality acoustic guitars based in New York City, then Hinsdale, New Hampshire and finally West Swanzey, New Hampshire, from the 1960s to 1981. The instruments were designed by luthier Michael Gurian who also supervised production of the instruments bearing his name. The company was one of the earliest "boutique" acoustic guitar makers in the United States, offering an alternative product to those of the larger, factory-based makers of the day, with instruments characterized by a distinctive shape, features and sound.
Gurians were favored at one time by several well-known acoustic players including songwriters Paul Simon and Jackson Browne, also fingerstyle guitar players like Pierre Bensusan and John Renbourn . A rarity, there are only about 5000 of these guitars in circulation.
