1929 Martin 00-18
Perhaps one of the best sounding and playing guitars to ever grace the walls of Acoustic Corner, this 1929 Martin 00-18 is a fingerpickers dream.
Serial number 39496 is unbelievably light and balanced . .bass notes project remarkably from this small-bodied guitar and the trebles are crystalline and dripping with overtones. Incredibly comfortable soft V neck.
While this guitar is in amazing condition for its age, there are the usual repairs for an instrument of this age. First is the replacement belly style bridge, and upon further interior inspection there is a replaced bridge plate with a date of 1996. The crack in back of the bridge has been properly cleated, as is the one on the upper bout, bass side. Though there is very little evidence showing it was done, I would be surprised if this instrument has NOT had a neck reset and new bar frets. However, all work on this instrument is outstanding. Tuning machines look to be original.
The case is incredibly old, but more likely from the 1950's.
A handful of scrapes and scratches, but an otherwise well playing and truly inspiring historic instrument.
